Participatory heritage by design in Southern Arabia

This project uses ethnographic approaches and participatory design in archaeological and heritage research in Oman to measure social impact and actively integrate community voices into academic research practice. By involving local communities in the research and conservation process, this research aims to ensure locally sustainable and culturally resonant research practices by foreign-led missions in the region.

This research explores advanced computational, data science, and visualisation techniques for protecting cultural heritage. By leveraging emerging technologies such as digital twins, Augmented Reality, and Agent-Based Modelling, the research programme aims to enhance the preservation and restoration of ancient heritages sites and landscapes.
